  • What is individual therapy?

Individual therapy (psychotherapy) is a 50 minute session with therapist and client, where collaboratively determined therapeutic goals are explored and worked towards. Psychotherapy, generally, is a talk-based therapy that operates with the intention of helping clients improve and maintain their well-being and mental health. It is often geared towards helping clients shift the thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and patterns that negatively impact their lives.

  • My approach to individual therapy

My approach to individual therapy is client centred, and I believe that different approaches are better suited to different individuals. I would consider my approach to individual therapy to be commonly founded in Cognitive/Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CT/CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT) principles, however I also fondly incorporate ideas found in other schools of thought when they are suited to the individual themselves or their presenting concerns.
